I was very anxious before my first session. I have a stutter, so my anxiety made it even worse. James was awesome and gave me the tools I needed to stay calm and overcome the trauma I felt from my stuttering experiences in the past. The sessions exceeded my expectations.

I worked with James for a series of sessions and would describe it as ‘life changing’. The changes I’m experiencing, my thinking and my body’s physical response to stress are altogether different. I’d highly recommend James (in fact, I have referred friends already!)

During my sessions, James listened to me and made me feel positive and empowered. At first I was a little apprehensive, however I quickly became calm and relaxed because of how James spoke and explained everything. Since our session, I have been able to enjoy activities that I have put off for well over 10 years!

Why you need to manage stress

Stress is associated with a long list of serious medical complaints. It has been linked to heart disease, obesity, diabetes and hypertension. On top of this, stress can cause headaches, neck pain, insomnia, depression and even gastrointestinal problems.

On this page, you’ll find lots of information about stress, why it is such a global issue and how clinical hypnosis for stress can help. You’ll learn about the things that trigger stress, why chronic stress is something that everyone needs to iron out, and how stress management techniques are well within your grasp.

Since completing my clinical hypnosis training in 2012, I have helped thousands of people to live a life that has more focus and is more in tune with where they want to be in their lives. Among those people are hundreds for whom stress was a lingering problem.

And hypnotherapy for stress works. In most cases, I can help people with their stress relief in just one or two sessions using stress reduction methods.

All about stress

Stress is a feeling of emotional or physical tension and there are a number of different reasons why we feel affected by it. One is that we are overworked or we feel like we don’t have the time to get a job done.

Another cause is anger. Stress reduction can seem impossible when we are constantly fuming over something or someone.

A third reason we feel stress is nervousness. When life just doesn’t seem to be going our way and we have problems with anxiety, chronic stress can ensue.

Sometimes, a one-off, significant event leaves us feeling severely stressed. Two good recent examples include Covid and the lingering cost of living crisis. When compounded by an unexpected redundancy or injury, the stress we’re exposed to can be immense and may also impact our immune system too.

Other times, people just seem to have a run of bad luck that exposes them to a long run of stressful experiences. These events can leave you feeling perpetually ‘switched-on’ and hyper-vigilant.

A common problem that won’t go away

Many of us struggle on with mild forms of stress every day, while others find the weight of their perceived problems almost unbearable.

When we feel stress, the chemical cortisol floods our systems. In short bursts – such as when fleeing a burning building – this has obvious advantages. But most of the time, stress hampers our physical relaxation capabilities and gets in the way of enjoying life to the full.

Just imagine if you were better able to cope with stressful situations – if you could be immersed in something unpleasant, but not react to it in the way you currently do.

We can’t make stress disappear once and for all – because the world will keep on throwing difficulties at us. What we can work on is our response to these challenges. Hypnotherapy helps you to ‘dial down’ the response and be better at carrying on – bypassing your usual response (anger, feelings of helplessness, anxiety and so on).

It’s also a fast-acting solution, as it rapidly equips you with tools to manage your emotions.

Why stress relief is important

In order to better manage stress and feel better equipped to cope with stressful events, many people need to make some important changes in their lives. These can include consciously reducing the number of things that cause them stress, or trying mindfulness training techniques. They can seek help for treating anxiety, too, or look at other ways to improve their wellbeing.

Often, though, making these positive changes is not easy. As a result, the symptoms of stress – such as sleep problems (insomnia), trouble staying calm in social situations and a variety of mental health conditions – all persist.

How hypnotherapy for stress can help you

Some of the best ways to tackle stress involve changing your beliefs and learning effective coping strategies. Equipped with these skills, the next time you are in a situation where pressure could easily rise, you are better able to stay calm. This is where stress hypnosis with an expert can really help.

Unlike other therapies, hypnotherapy is something that works quickly. During a session, I first discuss with a client the reasons behind why they are feeling stressed. Sometimes, there can be a deep, underlying cause of stress – meaning that we need to look at people’s values.

The power of positive suggestions

My work as a trained clinical hypnotherapist makes it possible to help people deal with the emotional impact of difficult situations so that they can leave feeling better equipped to face the world in a positive, relaxed manner. One way I do this is by using the power of positive suggestions during hypnosis.

Other therapeutic techniques include targeting the amygdala directly – the amygdala being your ‘freeze, fight or flight’ response that can cause so much stress and anxiety. These hypnotherapeutic techniques can be highly effective at changing your unconscious response to things.

At Fix My Mind, we use hypnotherapyNLP and other methods to help people become more relaxed and better equipped to deal with stress.

During a hypnosis session, we will help you find ways to deal with stress and handle your day-to-day life with a different, calmer mindset.

What happens during a hypnotherapy session?

The first thing we’ll do is have a complimentary exploratory phone call, lasting up to 20 minutes.

Before your actual session, you’ll fill in a detailed questionnaire that will help me understand your history and patterns of stress. This allows me to tailor your treatment plan.

Over the course of your 90-minute session, you will feel calm and in control, and I’ll use a combination of the most effective modern and classic hypnotherapeutic tools and techniques.

How to book your hypnotherapy session for stress relief

Hopefully you now feel ready to take the next step to being calmer. Most clients need only a couple of sessions to be better.

Each session will be 90 minutes long. This means we achieve so much more than you can in the traditional 50-minute therapy hour that most therapists provide. As part of my ‘Cost of Living Crisis’ promotion, I’m reducing that by 10% to only £290 + VAT per session. I have very limited availability and if you’d like to know more about how I may be able to help you, then do get in touch now.

If you’d like to start your own journey towards a calmer you, then just call freephone 0800 122 3073 or fill out my contact form. You’ll also get your free one-hour download to help you relax.

Here’s to you being calmer!

Why choose me as your hypnotherapist

I became a hypnotherapist because of a life-changing hypnotherapy session of my own in 2006. This helped me to re-find myself and discover new hope. So, whatever you’re feeling now, I’ve been in a similar place.
Experience
I am an expert at dealing with stress and have completed more than 5,000 sessions of hypnotherapy.
Chemistry
I only work with clients that I believe I can help, want to help and have a good chemistry with.
Speed
Most clients need just two sessions to see a significant improvement. This is quicker than virtually any other therapist.
Reassurance
I am one of the UK’s most reviewed therapists. More than 90% of clients give me a 5-star review.
Trust
Before I saw my very first client more than a decade ago, I had completed more than 1,000 hours of training. Unfortunately, anyone can call themselves a therapist without any training. Do not put your mental health in the hands of amateurs.

I worked with James for a series of sessions- I would honestly describe the experience as ‘life changing’. I know that phrase gets thrown about all too often but for me, there really is no other way to describe the shift in my thinking. I had never done hypnotherapy before so had no idea what to expect (other than some silly TV representation of it!) The sessions were calming, relaxing conversations- I was awake. The changes I’m experiencing, my thinking and my body’s physical response to stress are altogether different. I’d highly recommend James (in fact I have referred friends already!!)*

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to your most common queries about stress hypnotherapy here.

If you have tried a psychologist, counselling, or any other kind of therapy, hypnotherapy for stress offers an alternative. Or perhaps you don't like the idea of any of those other options and are looking for fast results.

Hypnotherapy works by 'rewiring' the mind so that it changes the way it reacts to whatever is bothering you. As an example, it can stop the brain from going into panicky 'fight or flight' mode when you're standing up to present to a group of people (if that's what's holding you back).

It provides a safe haven from anxiety, stress and trauma, and in many cases can eradicate the response you want to get rid of completely. In other cases, even being able to 'dial down' the response can make a significant difference to how well you are able to cope with life.

There are four main reasons why clients choose me. Experience: I have now completed more than 5,000 hypnotherapy sessions with clients from all over the UK and further afield.

Approach: I am personable and focused, and I only want to work with people I wholeheartedly believe I can help.

Training: Before I saw my very first client, I had completed more than 1,000 hours of training.

Results: I am highly results focused and it is never my goal to keep clients coming back for more sessions unless these are 100% needed.

It depends on your background and what we have used in previous sessions, if applicable. As well as clinical hypnotherapy, the four main tools at my disposal are Havening, Time Line Therapy, NLP and TFT.

I have enjoyed considerable success with all of these, both individually and in various combinations.

Given the current cost of living crisis, I am offering 10% off my standard fee. A potentially life-changing 1-1 session with me today costs just £290 +VAT per 90-minute session (most hypnotherapists' sessions are only 50 minutes long).

There is no extra fee for my pre-prep work, such as my analysis of your pre-session briefing questionnaire.

Additionally, every new client benefits from a free 20-minute consultation by phone.

Booking is easy – please just fill in the contact form, or call me on freephone 0800 122 3073.

100% effort – every time

I will put 100% effort into working with you and the techniques that I use are very powerful. As with all therapy types, success varies from client to client and there can be no guarantees. In fact, I’d recommend running a mile from a hypnotherapist who says they offer a guarantee.
